SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH

Summer is a loose term these days in London, with the last week having rapid changes in temperatures and sudden downpours followed closely by bright sunshine. Luckily, we were staying city center in the heart of Aldwych so it was easy to pop out and explore my favorite locations then duck in to shield from the rain! One Aldwych is a perfectly positioned accommodation with a modern but luxe feel.SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH | the belle abroadStaying on the sixth floor, we had gorgeous views of the cityscape of London including a peak at the Eye. An evening bubble bath overlooking the hustle and bustle of the Strand and Covent Garden was the perfect way to unwind. For a night out, two of my favorite Westend shows, The Lion King and Mamma Mia, as well as the Royal Opera are a few minutes walk from the hotel. Return for a delicious dinner at Eneko, One Aldwych's Basque restaurant. We loved the traditional talo, avocado tempura, hake tempura and the oxtail! For a cozy morning in, we ordered breakfast to the room enjoying the views and a little morning tv with our coffees. I love breakfast in bed especially in a snug robe and slippers! After a quick shopping trip through Covent Garden (literally anything you could need is within a ten minutes walk!), I popped back to One Aldwych for an afternoon cocktail. The creative cocktail menu will have you staying for seconds and thirds just to try it all!

If you stay at One Aldwych, here are the top things you can't miss :

Afternoon Wine at Gordon's Wine Bar : arrive late afternoon to snag outdoor seating if the weathers good, if not go inside for the oldest wine cellar in LondonA Westend Show or the Royal Opera : I love Lion King and Mamma Mia closeby!Somerset House : in summer the balcony is a pop-up bar overlooking the Thames, in winter the main courtyard is a gorgeous ice skating rink!Dinner at Eneko : or brunch with unlimited Cava! The British Museum Cupcakes at Primrose BakeryThe view from Waterloo Bridge : one of the prettiest views from the not-so-prettiest bridge...from the west side you'll see old London, including the Eye and Big Ben. From the east side, a very modern view of London.SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH | the belle abroad SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH | the belle abroad SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH | the belle abroad SUMMER IN THE CITY : A STAY AT ONE ALDWYCH | the belle abroad
