WEEKENDER GUIDE TO PARIS

I always hear about how easy a weekend trip to Paris from London is....and I have done many much harder weekends away so it was about time I put this one to the test! We set off for a sunny, summer escape to Paris with AirFrance and Hilton Paris Opera.Leaving London on a Friday afternoon in summer sometimes seems like the least popular decision...pubs are overflowing, streets are impassible from tourists and Londoners alike soaking in the daylight, and you know, Pimms. But we managed to break through all the distractions (and temptations!), and headed for Heathrow for a zippy little flight to Paris. Zippy in that as soon as that glass of white wine is poured, you're prepping for landing. It's just that easy. AirFrance offers several options to Paris from London daily, and with their exceptional service and breezy timeline, it's the perfect weekend getaway from London.Checking in at the Hilton Paris Opera was like stepping into a Parisian work of art...the lobby is gorgeous but just beyond that into Le Grand Salon, you'll find a stunning Napoleonic style lounge serving food and cocktails. Since we arrived late in the evening, it was the perfect spot for a nightcap before bed. When you're only away for a weekend getaway, location is key. I loved this neighborhood of Paris, it was between my two favorite areas to explore in the city...Montmartre and a stroll along the Seine to the Eiffel Tower. Steps away from the Hilton Paris Opera, is one of the best views of the city at the shopping mall Les Galeries Lafayette's rooftop terrace. We also ventured to Moulin Rouge on this visit and the hotel was perfect for this -- a less than ten minute taxi ride! The rooms are chic and modern but with touches of Parisian flair...like the balcony views. I struggled for a few hours to get someone to unlock this -- you need to sign a release and then have maintenance unlock them, completely reasonable and understandable, but someone was a little eager to see the views...and it was worth it! We had one of those amazing summer weather weekends -- a perfect mid 70's (or mid 20's for my metric friends!) with just the right amount of breeze. It was a balcony open kind of weekend.Overall, the weekend getaway from London to Paris was easy peasy and I think it's one to be repeated!WEEKENDER GUIDE TO PARIS | the belle abroad
