The Alhambra in Photos
The Alhambra is the must-see spot in southern Spain. Located above the gorgeous, mountainous city of Granada, the first documents referencing the Alhambra as a fortress date back to the 9th century and the complex as a palace dates to the 13th century. The Moorish princes occupied initially, then after being driven out, the Christians continued to use. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The major things : 1. Only a select number of entry tickets are available per day and only 30% of these are sold at the door--if seeing the Alhambra is a must for you (and it should be!), be sure to purchase tickets in advance!2. Look closely at the ticket-- your ticket allows for a four hour stay at the Alhambra but a very specific window of time for the Palaces...don't miss this!3. Parking : there are several lots right outside of the Alhambra, making parking and walking in super easy. We parked at the Alhambra and walked down (veeeery down) to Granada and then back up (veeeery steep up) for our visit. It's not too hard but just be aware if you have issues with uphill walking!4. Take your time. Casual and comfortable for a day of exploring, here's my look!
