Sorrento Airbnb
Sorrento was the first stop in our Amalfi Coast adventure. It is a scenic city built up around the bay with stunning views of Mount Vesuvius. The gorgeous scenes of Sorrento, in my opinion, are best viewed from the rooftop or garden of this gorgeous 19th century family home. I found this classic Italian summer home built in 1880 on Airbnb and knew instantly it was meant to be. Villa Parisi sits perched on a hill overlooking the bay and surrounded by stunning gardens filled with citrus and olive groves. The home has three guest rooms, two of which have a connecting door making it the perfect spot for couples or groups traveling together. Each room has large, full length windows that open offering fabulous views and crisp breezes. Through the top floor attic, you'll find a narrow, spiral staircase leading up to the roof. Grab some bottles of local wine and watch the sunset here!Sorrento is easily accessible from the house via the local bus service OR a quick 10-15 minute walk down a side street. Along the route is a walk up wine and beer convenience shop, we found some delicious local wine for 2 euros here! You'll definitely need several bottles for the rooftop star gazing.Mario is the host, his family built Villa Parisi and have long used it as a summer residence. He can also organize a boat excursion along the coast or to Capri for you!On arrival, we were told of a 'friendly ghost' who visits Villa Parisi-- a fun myth that actually most people in the town know about! We would tell people where we were staying and they'd tell us funny stories about the ghost! The source of the rumors in my opinion...the long windows in each room must be VERY securely shut and locked at night or the wind will howl through between the rooms. The downside: the bathrooms are not attached to the bedrooms and are found down the hall however, robes are provided for some privacy!Have you tried Airbnb?
