quick Rome Eats

Here are my favorite quick eats in Rome:

Pane & Vino: a small little corner restaurant near the Coliseum with delicious, fresh sandwiches! Also, the owner, Fabio, was so kind and gave us great recommendations in Rome! You must visit this quaint sandwich shop when in Rome.

La Gelateria Frigidarium : my favorite gelato in Rome. Nutella. All. The. Way.

Alimentari Coronari : This was one of the best sandwiches of my life! Porchetta and broccolini. The Italians love their pork and they certainly know how to do it. This cute little restaurant only opened a few weeks before we arrived and so there was no menu, just a chalkboard list of items, but it was packed every time we walked by! And after we enjoyed our sandwiches and vino, we know why!

Two Sizes – The Tiniest (and Best) Tiramisù : Imagine layers of velvety mascarpone and coffee-soaked biscuits in a perfect little cup—Two Sizes has mastered the art of tiramisù. Choose between (you guessed it) two sizes, but let’s be honest, go for the bigger one. Classic, pistachio, or even caramel flavors? Yes, yes, and yes.

Duecentogradi : amazing little sandwich shop with a wide menu and just steps from the Vatican.

Parenti – A Sweet Stop for Pastry Lovers : For those who believe in dolce far niente (the sweetness of doing nothing), Parenti is your spot. Their flaky sfogliatelle and custard-filled bomboloni (Italian doughnuts) are the ultimate sweet treat. Grab one with a cappuccino and soak in the vibes of this cozy pastry shop.

50 Kalò – The Pizza Paradise. No trip to Italy is complete without pizza, and 50 Kalò serves some of the best in Rome. This Neapolitan-style pizzeria is famous for its perfectly charred, soft, and chewy crusts, paired with top-tier ingredients. Whether you go for a classic margherita or something more adventurous, every bite is a slice of heaven.

Supplì Roma – The Ultimate Street Food Stop. For a quick and tasty bite, head to Supplì Roma. This humble spot is known for its namesake snack—supplì, which are deep-fried rice balls filled with gooey mozzarella. It’s the perfect on-the-go treat while exploring the city’s charming streets.

Caffé Antica Roma – Your Roman Wake-Up Call : Start your day like a true Roman—standing at the bar with a strong espresso or a frothy cappuccino in hand. Caffé Antica Roma is the kind of place that feels like a warm hug in the morning, with rich coffee and flaky cornetti (Italian croissants) that melt in your mouth. Pro tip: sip, chat, and people-watch like a local.

MAMI – The Sandwich Spot That Hits Different. Craving something quick, fresh, and delicious? MAMI’s panini are packed with high-quality meats, creamy cheeses, and just the right amount of crunch. Whether you’re in the mood for a porchetta sandwich or a classic mozzarella-tomato-basil combo, MAMI serves up handheld happiness.

Forno Campo de' Fiori – Pizza, But Make It Roman : When hunger strikes, head straight to Forno Campo de' Fiori—a bakery that has perfected the art of pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice). The crispy, airy crust topped with fresh tomato sauce and bubbling cheese is legendary. Try the pizza bianca (plain, salted, and irresistibly simple) or the zucchini blossom pizza for a taste of Roman tradition.

Just a few of my recommendations in Rome because the food in Italy is just too good to ever eat anything bad!
