The Canary
There's not much that caffeine doesn't help for me....but sometimes a girl needs more. Like a snazzy new do, crisp blow out and a delicious almond latte.I ventured over to Bethnal Green for my latest DripApp tasting at The Canary, a cafe - salon combo. The perfect duo if you ask me. Add in the best blueberry muffin in London, and my afternoon is set.The Canary opened less than a year ago but the name may spark some recognition to my fellow Londoners--it's the sister salon to the King's Canary in Fitzrovia, a posh salon with an unpretentious atmosphere. The Canary however offers the same standard of salon quality styling as well as a top level vegan cafe with expert baristas and a unique event space. I stepped in on a Thursday afternoon for a freshening up of my long locks.. the cafe was scattered with other guests enjoying the space and sipping on tasty drinks. My stylist Emma is a seasoned pro--she's spent the better part of the last two decades making clients feel beautiful and often more importantly, understanding what her clients want to walk away with. How many times have you been in for a quick trim and lost more length than you could handle?! Emma listened to my waxing and waning on the various reasons to cut my hair but yet not to cut my hair... and patiently offered a perfect alternative. And I couldn't be more pleased with the end result! She also was the easiest to chat to--I felt like I'd stepped into my personal salon with the stylist I've known for ages! And let's talk about the coffee...A delicious cappuccino with almond milk! I just said give me something tasty with caffeine....and he literally read my mind because this drink was perfection. The Canary offers a crisp, clean, all-white, minimalist vibes with an open door to the community.. I noticed a kids corner with crayons and art hung on the wall! Talk about a neighborhood spot. Owner Victoria is all about making this space friendly and open..I overheard her in several conversations with guests about what they would be interested in for the space! She has big ideas and I couldn't be more excited to see them all play out--cinema screenings in the basement, group meeting spaces over coffee, yoga!
